How it all started:
In the Spring Semester of 2014, founders Nicole Milani (CAS '16)
and Jillian Rosati (CFA '16) wanted to run in a team environment
but found that there was no Club Cross Country or Club Track
team on campus. The two had been meeting up to run together
multiple times a week and during these runs, they both admitted
to missing training with a group of like-minded people towards
the goal of being the best they can be.
They met with the Club Sports Office to find out that there was a
long waitlist for other proposed club sports due to insufficient
funding. However, they were reminded that no one is stopping them
from gathering a group of people, signing up for races together, and
wearing Boston across their chests. And that's just what they did.
That night, they made a Facebook page called Boston University
Club Cross Country and Track, set up a practice schedule, made a
registration form, and the rest is history.
Today, BU Running Club has an executive board comprised of team members who have been democratically voted into their positions to ensure that all team members' voices are heard and that the club is organized and functioning at its highest capacity.
What we've been up to:
Since its founding, competitive members of the club have raced within the greater Boston area and as far as Lexington, Kentucky, and the club has seen an exponential growth in both membership and participation.
